Knitting Genius

I sat and knit with a friend today; she is a knitting genius!

First, when we knit together a month or so ago she or her genius knitting sister (oh sucky memory…) mentioned putting a life line in the project. The idea is that if something gets so screwed up it can’t be fixed you just rip out to the life line and start over, but not so over that you have to recreate the entire project. This has been AMAZING and I’ve utilized it a lot as my current scarf has 16 rows and I just make all kinds of mistakes especially at night which is when I generally have time to knit.

Second, today she explained how to un-knit back to a mistake in a way that I actually FINALLY made the connection and could do it myself. Breakthrough moment!! It’s not just putting the needle into the hole below, which I can manage to totally muck up, but it’s finding the holes that have the active yarn going through them. This then works for not only the single stitches, but all the yarn together stuff as well. It was like a light bulb went off. Yay! A whole new era of knitting hopefully is opening up here :D

Thankful Radio

No Age – Losing Feeling

I find this video to be absolutely awesome!

Curried Pumpkin Soup

Projects Freespiel

Now that I have a bit more time on my hands I have been tackling some of the other things that have been nagging on me for awhile. There’s things like vacuuming that really does become necessary after a point. And I’ve been trying to wrangle the very wide assorted condition of cds that made there way into my life. On that front, I’m finding that a number of them have no cases, or cases have no cd, or if there’s a cd involved it’s unplayable. This is sad. Fortunately, still lots of interesting stuff in there that is playable. I’m finding some stuff that will definitely end up on the show. And it’s interesting to listen to some stuff that I’ve heard of, and now I can say yup heard it, and don’t care for it. Here I’m thinking of King Crimson, Meat Beat Manifesto, Ministry, mmm, can’t remember what else right now, oh, some Mike Patton. Though I like what he’s about; I had only heard Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and some Fantomas before. And he’s got some great packaging for some of his stuff. Like anyone I guess, I like some of it and not other bits. And let’s see, I’ve been backing up my computer as well as my external hard drive in preparation for running some utilities and possibly getting some Apple Care involved in my overheating computer issue. Reminds me that I need to go through and do some purging of files and such, clean up the photos and movies. And I’m purging physical objects too. And and and, well, other stuff. It means I’m tired at the end of the day, but feeling like I’m making progress.

Fjording Streams

I’m super excited to bring you the very first after-the-fact stream of an Amplified Mixtape show! Got some answers on somehow having the show available after the fact for folks that might miss it for the many reasons that there are to miss something in this world of worlds.

So how this will work is that I’ll post the stream of the most recent show up until the next show. It will then be taken down and replaced by the next show. And so on.

This show is a couple of shows old because like all new things there were some bugs and I only got 20 minutes of the last show. And even this stream cuts off the last three songs of the set. But it’s a start! And I’m excited as it’s something I’ve want to do for a long time, wooo progress!

Here’s the link, hope you like it :D

Library Music

Reading the insert notes on this lovely (cover NSFW) gem Cinemaphonic: Electro Soul, they classify this as production library music, or library music for short. Being of literal mind today, gawd, how much I’d love to have a bit of this going on in the background. It would even match the decor of my local branch ;)

Really liking this guy’s music:

Here I am

Judging books by their covers again. So lovely – check out A History of 16 Science Fiction Classics, Told In Book Covers.

Love and Other Catastrophes: A Mix Tape

This was one of my favorite pieces in The Best American Non Required Reading 2003 edited by Dave Eggers. Found it here, but since no updates to that site have happened since 2006 I’m adding it here. Isn’t it awesome :D
